HOW TO BECOME A VENDOR
AT ANY FARMERS’ MARKET: Each Farmers' Market has its own local government requirements include permits and licenses by the City and other governing boards. You will need to get in touch with each Farmers' Market for those stipulations. Find all Certified Farmers' Markets in San Diego County here: www.SDFarmBureau.org then click on the "Buy Local" tab.
All the Farmers' Markets are also governed by the County Department of Environmental Health and the State Department of Agriculture, Weights and Measures. The County and State requirements are the same in every San Diego market. We have included some links to these agencies below.
Each Vendor must bring their own Canopy (or Umbrella) for shade and everything you want to put under it: Tables, Chairs, Displays, etc. The market only provides the space for you. Each Space is 10' x 10' which is the size of the average Canopy. Most spaces have room for one average size vehicle. If your vehicle or your canopy is extra large you will need to rent two spaces or unload and park off site.
Vendor set up starts no sooner than 1 hour before the markets start (noon in Carlsbad Village). Unless you are a permanent vendor, do not set up until the Market Manager has placed you in your spot. If you set up in the wrong spot it is likely that you will have to move everything.
AT THE CARLSBAD VILLAGE FARMERS’ MARKET:
VENDOR CATEGORIES There are 5 different categories of Vendors at the two Carlsbad Village Farmers’ Markets: 1) PRODUCE - Certified Produce, Flower, and Plant Vendors 2) FOOD - Hot, Cold and Packaged Food Vendors 3) CRAFTS - Arts and Crafts Vendors - 75%+ handcrafted 4) INFO - CVA Members – For Marketing Purposes Only 5) NON-PROFIT – Social or Civic Organizations
All Vendors (except Vendor Categories 4 & 5 above)—unless their products are very unique and not sold by any Village business—must either produce their own products, be a family member of the producer, or an employee of the producer to get into the market. You cannot be a reseller or distributor of a product unless it is more than 75% handcrafted and cannot be found elsewhere in the Village.
We have a waiting list for Vendors interested in our Wednesday market which opened in 1994. We are currently building our Saturday market which opened in 2005. Participation in Saturday is required as a proving ground for all new Vendors. When a space becomes available in Wednesday, Vendors who have done well on Saturday, AND will stay in the Saturday market, will be considered first for Wednesday's market.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS Vendors are required to have the following listed documents. All documents must be current and a current copy of each document must be provided to the Farmers’ Market Manager before selling can begin in the Market.
